2019 NHL Winter Classic

In 2008 the NHL began the tradition of the NHL Winter Classic, a regular-season outdoor game held annually in early January. For the 2019 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins met outdoors for the first time in League history when they faced off at the iconic Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana. With a capacity of nearly 80,000, the celebrated football stadium, which opened in 1930, hosted the largest live audience to ever witness either team in action.
